Contrary to the familiar, a recent medical study warned that most types of yoghurt contain large amounts of sugar, especially organic yogurt.

Researchers from the University of Leeds have reached their conclusion after analyzing 900 kinds of yogurt collected from shops in Britain.

According to the study, only nine percent of the group was classified as low-sugar, containing five grams of sugar per 100 grams, compared to only 2 percent of children's yogurt.

Organic yoghurt contained 13.1 grams of sugar per 100 grams versus 10.8 for yogurt.

Greek yoghurt and natural yoghurt were one of the lowest types of yogurt containing sugar at a rate of five grams per 100 grams.

"Many people do not realize the amount of free or added sugar in yogurt," said Bernadette Moore, associate professor at the School of Food and Nutrition Sciences at Leeds University and lead author of the study. "Parents should realize that yoghurt is different, Most healthy ".

British health services advise adults not to eat more than 30 grams of sugar per day, while parents are encouraged not to give children under 4 sugary foods.
