Smartphones are likely to rely on new designs on their new smartphones in the coming years as the smartphones market will continue to be saturated. According to a new report released today, LG and Samsung have applied for new design patents for smart phones that include dual screens, one in the front end and the other in the backend. All patents in question have been disclosed by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
It is reported that LG applied for a patent one and a half years ago from Samsung but the patents were published on the same day by the USPTO. The illustrations in the patents show that Samsung and LG have thought of smartphones that can include a secondary screen in the backend.
The Samsung illustration shows a device with a rear screen that covers about half of the backlight. The illustrations from LG indicate that she thought of a smartphone with a secondary screen covering the top quarter of the device. What you can not remember is the type of screen used by both Samsung and LG in these designs.

Could the idea be similar to that of the YotaPhone with a 5.2-inch screen and e-ink technology at the back? Or did you imagine using a full LCD screen or an OLED display? Such questions are not answered in patents that are not really indications that the device in question will be issued.
So, despite the appearance of these patents, there is nothing to confirm whether Samsung or LG will make a secondary screen smart phone at the back. However, Samsung operates a retractable smart phone.
