Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo will leave Red Bull at the end of the season, the Formula One team said Friday, taking Renault's colors from next season.

"We informed Daniel Ricciardo that he would leave the team at the end of the 2018 season," Red Bull wrote on his official website.

"We are delighted to announce that Daniel Ricciardo will join Renault Formula One as a race driver starting in 2019," said Renault's Ricardo Cardo, 29, who is currently fifth in the drivers' rankings.

"It may have been one of the toughest decisions I have made in my career so far, but I think it's time to come up with a new challenge," Ricciardo told Renault's official website.

Reno pointed out that Ricciardo, the son of the Australian city of Perth, would be a colleague of current German driver Nico Holkenberg.

Riccardo joined the Red Bull family in 2008 as a member of the Red Bull junior team, scoring several titles, and then began his Formula One tour of the Great Britain award in 2011.

After two seasons with Scuderia Toro Rosso, Reciardo joined Red Bull in 2014 and scored seven wins, including two this season in China and Monaco, and climbed to the podium 29 times.

"We fully respect Daniel's decision to leave Aston Martin Red Bull Racing and wish him the best in his future," said team leader Christian Horner.

"We will continue to evaluate many of the options available to us before choosing the driver who will complement Max Fürstaben in the 2019 season. At this time there are nine races remaining in the 2018 season ..."...
