The International Monetary Fund (IMF) today approved a $ 50 billion loan to Argentina over three years.
The IMF's decision allows officials to inject an immediate injection to the Argentine government for nearly $ 15 billion, half of which will be used to support and fund the public budget.
The Argentine government had asked the IMF for its assistance last May. Its Board of Directors replied that Buenos Aires had an economic plan aimed at strengthening its economy by restoring market confidence and meeting its financial needs.
Moreover, Argentina seeks to reduce inflation by setting realistic targets for inflation and increasing the independence of the central bank.
