Coffee, especially dark, contains chemical compounds that protect against Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, according to a recent Canadian study.

The researchers found that chemical compounds produced during roasting coffee prevent the growth of proteins linked to brain diseases.

The study found that dark coffee, which comes as a result of increased roasting, contains more of these compounds, as well as concentrated espresso coffee.

The study, published in the journal Frontiers in Neuroscience Medical, said that these compounds help to reduce the accumulation of protein "amyloid beta" and "To" in the brain associated with the emergence and development of Alzheimer's disease.
