Rolls-Royce announced a new deal with Intel to build fully self-contained vessels by 2025.
The company has established a special system called the "Intelligent Awareness System" consisting of a network of cameras, radars and remote sensors.
This system looks for obstacles that can hinder the movement of self-driving ships like other ships.
As part of the new deal with Intel, Rolls-Royce will use 3D hard drives to store and process data.
The Intelligent Awareness System can automatically classify nearby vessels, whether small boats, cruise ships, or tankers.
The system provides better visibility in adverse weather conditions by collecting and concentrating data from multiple sources, and is particularly useful when vessels are moving nearby, such as port docks.
The company, which has separated from the same name brand, has been working on self-propelled ship technology since early 2010.
