LACOST has named Louise Trotter, the British designer, to become the first woman to hold the position since the group was founded 85 years ago.

It replaces Portuguese designer Felipe Oliveira Baptista, who announced his departure in May after eight years of cooperation with the company.

The designer had already worked for nine years with the Joseph brand. It will be presenting the first group to be signed during the next Fashion Week in Paris, according to the Lacoste statement.

"I am very proud to contribute to opening a new chapter in the history of the group," the designer said in the statement.

Lacoste was back in Paris for the fashion week in September 2017 after having spent 13 years in New York.

The brand, known as the Little Alligator, was founded in 1933 by Andre Gillier and former tennis champion René Lacoste
