Arsenal, in a fierce competition with Real Madrid, joined the club to win the services of Portuguese star Oporto, media reported Thursday.

The Suns will compete for the services of Mexican international midfielder and Porto player Hector Herrera.

Herrera's 28-year contract ends with Porto at the end of the season and he will be free to move to any club he wants to join next summer.

Arsenal, led by Unai Emery, hopes to obtain the services of the Mexican player, especially because reports indicate that Aaron Ramsay is out of the team by the end of the season.

He explained that the club may be more interested in the player's participation, and has to hire him for money in the winter transfer period, or an agreement between the two parties to join him next summer for free.

According to Spanish reports today, Real Madrid coach Joline Loptegi was seen with Herrera in Portugal in the last period, which generated rumors of the Royal's desire to include him, previously he knew his potential after training in Oporto.

Previous reports linked several clubs with the Mexican player, such as Rome, Italy, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.
