Earlier this week, Apple unveiled its third quarter results for the fiscal year 2018. The company revealed that it had achieved revenue of $ 53.3 billion. This is of course a great deal of money knowing that it is more than the amount of money Apple collects in any third quarter at all. However, most of the money seems to have been harvested from other Apple products, not from Mac sales, as ZDNet noted that Mac sales in the previous quarter reached their lowest level in seven years.
According to Apple itself, Mac sales fell to 3.72 million units, down 13 percent from the same quarter last year. It's not clear why Mac sales were so bad in this particular quarter, but it was speculated that this may be due to the lack of upgrade of the PC lineup, and possibly because of the high prices of MacBook Pro laptops with the Touch Bar.
While the MacBook Air is an option for people with limited budgets, it has not been upgraded for more than a year, but we recently heard that Apple plans to launch a new version of the MacBook Air later this year. There are also problems with the MacBook Pro keyboard that have been sued by the company, which in turn could keep potential customers away from buying it.
When it comes to Mac desktops, Apple launched the iMac Pro, but once again its high price makes it out of the reach of a large proportion of customers. IMac computers have not been upgraded for more than a year, which may make some customers trust the next upgrade. However, after the MacBook Pro was upgraded and rumors of upgrading the iMac and MacBook Air later this year, Apple's next quarter may be better when it comes to the computer segment.
